The Benefits of Ketamine Therapy
Ketamine is often faster and more effective than traditional therapies.
Unlike antidepressants, Ketamine can quickly trigger responses in the brain. Some patients report positive effects within minutes of their first treatment.*
(*Results vary by patient.)
Ketamine therapy has been shown to restore brain function.
Mental disorders like depression can lead to reduced function in certain parts of the brain. Ketamine shows promise in jumpstarting the growth of new synaptic connections (synaptogenesis). These new connections help address mental illness symptoms.
What Does Ketamine Therapy Treat?
Ketamine Therapy can be beneficial for several conditions.
It can feel hopeless when traditional therapies don’t help. With Ketamine Therapy, recent research suggests as many as 70% of treatment-resistant depression patients experienced rapid relief.
New research supports Ketamine IV infusions as a PTSD treatment for returning combat veterans and others with PTSD symptoms.
Ketamine shows promise in treating anxiety-related mental disorders to improve quality of life and ease severe symptoms.
According to new research, Ketamine can be effective in treating chronic pain disorders, particularly those that have a neurological component.
Ketamine treatment has shown success in improving brain function, cognition, and memory.
“I was surprised. Of course I wanted it to work, but I’m a bit of a pessimist, so I went into it without much expectation. But I feel a level of calmness that I’ve never really felt. The effects just really decreased my amount of general anxiety after one session.”
Defy Medical Ketamine Therapy Patient
Is Ketamine therapy covered by insurance?
Because this is an emerging off-label treatment, Ketamine IV therapy is typically not covered by most insurance.
Ketamine has received FDA approval as a safe and effective anesthetic, but using the medication to treat mental illness and other conditions is considered an off-label use. Most health insurance companies do not recognize or reimburse this type of treatment.
Defy Medical strives to provide both quality concierge medical care along with affordable access to compounded medications, blood tests, and nutritional supplements. In order to accomplish this, we do not accept any form of insurance. Many of the formulations we use in our therapies are not covered by insurance, although the cost of overall treatment is often less than when using insurance. We are able to provide documentation (for a small administrative fee) which patients can submit to their insurer for potential coverage.
Ketamine Therapy does not guarantee results, and each patient may respond differently to the treatment. Consult with a Defy Medical provider to find out if this therapy is right for you.
