We are all aware of the popularity Human Growth hormone has gained over the last few years.  Everyone from athletes to celebrities and now some of us ‘regular folk’ have enjoyed the tremendous benefits of this powerful hormone.  Human Growth Hormone is produced by the Pituitary Gland and is a very complex molecule. It promotes growth in children and plays an important role in adult metabolism. The body secretes the hormone, in decreasing amounts, throughout our lifetimes. The amount of HGH hormone in the body can be measured by levels of IGF-1 (Insulin Growth Factor). Growth hormone has a profound effect on all the cells of the body, more than any other hormone because it is THE cell generator. It is the "master hormone" controlling many organs and body functions and is directly responsible for stimulating tissue repair, cell replacement, brain functions, and enzyme function.

LEARN MORE ABOUT USING SERMORELIN TO INCREASE GROWTH HORMONE

This essential HGH hormone, so plentiful in our youth, decreases dramatically as we grow older. When we were in our early twenties we generate a new cell for each one that dies. By the time we reach our fifties we only regenerate one new cell for every two that die. When we are in our seventies, only one cell is replaced for every three or four that die. We appear to shrink at this time in our lives because we lose one to two million cells per day which are not being replaced. At age 21, the normal level of circulating hgh is about 10 milligrams per deciliter of blood, while at age 61 it is only 2 milligrams - an 80% decrease! It's the Hgh - human growth hormone that grows the cells, bones, muscles, and organs, and it is the decreasing level of Hgh - human growth hormone after age 30 that slowly robs us of our "youth."

Because of the media hype and myths placed around HGH due to its abuse by athletes it has been harder to prescribe here in the US and the cost has risen greatly over the last year (I will discuss these issues and dispel these myths a bit further in the next newsletter).

IMPROVING THE MIND WITH SERMORELIN

Recently a new product has been introduced to the market as an alternative to HGH; Sermorelin.  Sermorelin is a form of Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH) administered in the same manner as HGH and stimulates your natural production of HGH in the pituitary gland.  Do not get this hormone confused with any of these over the counter supplements claiming to raise HGH levels as most of them do not work for various reasons (If you have questions pertaining to over-the-counter ‘HGH’ please contact Dr. Saya or Jasen, they will explain why these do not work).  Sermorelin is a biological active analog of growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) that is produced by the human brain to stimulate production and release of growth hormone by the pituitary gland. During youth, ample amounts of GHRH are produced so that the pituitary is able to provide the body with sufficient growth hormone to sustain health, vitality and otherwise normal aspects of form and function. However, during aging, GHRH declines causing reduced production and secretion of pituitary hGH and thereby increasing the sequelae of growth hormone insufficiency that erodes health, vigor and vitality during later life. Unlike hGH, Sermorelin affects a more primary source of age-failure in the GH neuroendocrine axis, has more physiological activity, a better safety profile and its use in anti-aging medicine is not prohibited (as is hGH). Thus, Sermorelin should be considered a valuable alternative to hGH by anti-aging practitioners seeking to provide the best and most contemporary interventions in aging for their patients.
